Isla Saona is a 42-square-kilometer oasis located off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic. It was originally named “Adamanay” by the Taino Indians and was renamed by Christopher Columbus during his second voyage to the Americas in 1494. The name “Saona” honors his friend Michele da Cuneo from Savona, Italy.

Saona Island is one of the most famous beaches in the country, celebrated for its white sands, turquoise waters, and tropical palms.
